About the project
Gear Headz lives inside the Mad Monkey Creations universe but speaks directly to a tighter audience: working musicians and gear obsessives — people who know what a Klon clone is, can tell a tube preamp from a transistor one, and would happily wear a tee that quietly signals exactly that.
It runs as a sub-brand rather than its own storefront — the apparel ships through the same Mad Monkey Creations production line, but the creative direction, the artwork, and the marketing program are distinct.
Mad Monkey Creative develops the identity, the artwork, and the cross-promotion (Gear Headz banners appear on Indigo Jazz and Rick Kelly sites to drive crossover attention from the music audience).
Project goals
- Speak directly to a niche music-culture audience without forcing them through generic apparel
- Use the Mad Monkey Creations production pipeline so the sub-brand stays lean
- Create cross-promotion between the apparel side and the Indigo Jazz / Rick Kelly music brands
